But that being said, I still love vintage Valentines! So thought I would share some.
How about some vintage vegetable Valentines?
Bee ones are always sweet.
And just a few others.
And there are millions more - I could go on forever.
I quite like all the corny word plays in these vintage Valentines - some of them are really stretching though!
What do you think? Do you celebrate Valentine's Day?
Have a happy Valentine's Day!
Jayne, I simply love these Valentines! I remember some of these from when I was young. These were the little valentines we gave to classmates, and our sweethearts. Thank you for posting these old cards. I do think Valentine's Day has become too commercialized. Things in the stores seem tacky now instead of beautiful. I do long for the old days of beauty.
ReplyDeleteMe too! I think I was definitely born in the wrong era. I guess we just have to try and recreate those lovely times for ourselves.
DeleteThey are corny but that is the whole charm of them I agree. Back when the world was less strained.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely - back when things were simpler and people weren't always trying to impress others so much. It seems people were happier just to 'be'.
DeleteOh, I love these vintage valentines. They are all delightful...and may I whisper it, I rather like the word plays; they are such fun. I am going to celebrate 'the day of love' by going on a lovely country drive, with my valentine and enjoy a coffee or two. Happy Valentine's Day to you, sweet Jayne.
ReplyDeleteMe too - I think they are so sweet. Have a lovely, lovely day - what a blessing that you are able to have outings like that together again. I am so happy for you.
DeleteWhat a cheerful post, my dearest Jayne !
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing all these wonderful vintage valentine images !
I wish you a most beautiful Valentine's Day ever, filled with so much love,
and a wonderful new week ahead,
sending sweet, dear hugs to you
Dany
I hope you had a lovely Valentine's Day and I look forward to seeing more of your beautiful posts this week. Blessings to you.
DeleteO totally agree with you about the commercial side of Valentine's Day. I love the cards though. Have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteDiscount chocolate available from tomorrow though! Thanks for visiting.
DeleteThese are adorable. I think my husband would think the bean one is funny because he grows them. I would love to send a knitting or sewing one to a fellow crafter! We did celebrate Valentines when we dated going to dinner at an ethnic restaurant when we lived in the city but I hated it before that. I only do some fun craft activity or sweet making with the kids on Valentines since I discovered Waldorf and attended their playgroup. Otherwise it's awfully commercialised and lacking of real "love" and historical referencing.
ReplyDeleteI agree - I am quite happy to do some craft or cooking activities related to Valentines Day. But totally disagree with the expense some people go to, especially if they are only doing it as they feel they should.
DeleteThe vintage ones are really sweet though.
