Yarn Along - Finally Back!

Joining today with Small Things for Yarn Along.

I have been away for a while, due to illness and internet problems, but am finally back! I am looking forward to looking at all the Yarn Along posts for this week - I have been missing my blog browsing!

I don't think I have ever had an illness that actually made me feel so tired that I couldn't even read or knit. I just didn't have the energy to do anything.
So there has not been a huge amount of progress on the Girl On Fire shawl, although I am onto the final colour.

I am reading Home Front by Kristin Hannah. I am about half way through and am really enjoying it, so much so that I have looked up some more of her books to put on hold at the library. It is an easy, but engrossing read. It is about a wife and mother who is also a Black Hawk helicopter pilot and is deployed to Iraq.

And guess what?! Remember my daffodil tea cosy? It was entered in the exhibition and you could choose to offer it for sale. So I thought, why not? I can always make another one. And it sold! For $40! I was so excited - such a thrill that someone thought my knitting was worth actually buying!

So that gives me an excuse to make another tea cosy.

    1. Thank you - it was so thrilling. Hubby thought I was a bit weird to get so excited but it was just so gratifying that someone appreciated my knitting.

This is my first Yarn Along. I'm loving it!
Your Girl on Fire shawl is certainly impressive!
I'm sorry you were sick. Those kinds of bugs are disheartening. You're back now! Yay!

The shawl only has four rows and the edging to do, so maybe next week for final show and tell?

    1. Thanks so much. Yes, it is hard to be sick and keep being a good parent. I was so tired sometimes, I could feel myself losing all patience and just wanting to lie down and pass out. On the mend now though - thank goodness! Hopefully, next week for the shawl; not too much to go.

  9. Hopefully your girl on fire shawl will be finished before the much anticipated release of the next Hunger Games Movie. I'm sure it'll be beautiful. The past few weeks I finally got around to teaching myself to crochet using the DK book purchased from the post office some months back. I've attacked it with my usual gusto and fanaticism I get with a new challenge and have practised all the stitched and patterns ready for my fist real project. Being a knitter I have been surprised how easy crocheting is to put down and pick up and not having al the hassles of dropped stitches.

    1. Fantastic! That is something I have always wanted to do as I really love all the crocheted blankets. Great that you have taught yourself. I would love to hear how you are going with your first project!

    2. Just made a simple scarf for my daughter. Made with a sweet variegated wool with a treble stitch crocheted in the back of the stitch to give a ridged effect. I crocheted it length ways and added a fringe. My next project is to make some reusable sting shopping bags using a net stitch.

    3. Sounds lovely. I would love to make those string bags, although I have seen knitted variations.
