Finishing Up On Friday

I am very excited as I have some yarn finishes for this Friday!

First another dish cloth as you can simply never have too many. Especially when your hubby has a tendency to use them to clean the BBQ and they are never the same again! It is great that he says they are the best cleaners, but still!

This is the Waffle Knit Dish Cloth pattern that I use ALL the time (Rav notes here). It knits up easily and quickly, and the textured pattern is great for cleaning. Much as I love picture cloths (and I am knitting some Easter ones at the moment), they just don't clean as well as this one. I also knit this one to use up scraps.
I love the colours of this dish cloth. I think they would make great quilt colours for my ten year old son.

And, yes, I have finally started to add my projects to Ravelry. I have never used any of the features under My Notebook, other than putting a million patterns in my library. But I am going to add projects as I start them and slowly (it will take a while!) add my stash to Ravelry. A little bit each day and I should get there by 2018 or so!

I also finished the Tiny Trousers from Vintage Knits for Modern Babies.

The pattern uses 8 ply, but I knitted together two 4 ply yarns.  I think it is quite effective and I have another plan to use this technique with some sock yarn and a little boy vest pattern. Maybe for next week?

These are the two yarns I used, both Australian brands. The dark blue was the Patonyle sock yarn (80% wool, 20% nylon) and the white speckled was the Bella Baby Sugar. I have tons of the Bella Baby as it was marked right down last year, so expect to keep seeing that popping up!

I was hoping to have the gorgeous yarn shawl finished as well. But it is amazing how long it takes to knit one row when there are 621 stitches! How long can it take to knit those last few rows, I thought? Apparently, quite a while when you are doing it in between normal household stuff.

Do you like my new hall stand? Well, new to me anyway. It was my mum and dad's. As they have recently downsized from our family home to a small unit, this wasn't going to fit. I HAD to have it! (Gee, photo is pretty crooked - photography is not my thing!)

And some photos of my youngest little chooks, having a dust bath to cool down in our hot weather.

What have you all been working on? I look forward to finding out at this week's yarn parties.

    1. Thanks so much. I took all the stuff off the hall stand to take the photo as it has very quickly ended up as the place to dump stuff!

  4. Adorable pants. I just never considered knitting pants, but they are sooo cute I might have to consider them.

    1. They do look cute. I am starting another pair this week which is a free pattern on a blog. I will link to it then. They are even cuter as they have some embellishment. The Tiny Trousers pattern is easy, mindless knitting - good for DVD watching!

  5. I adore the vintage baby trousers. How cozy is that? I'm also very much liking your dishcloth texture. I frogged one that was 3/4 done this week because I wasn't happy with the texture any more.

    1. That dishcloth pattern is the best I have found for actually doing its job. I do make other cuter ones, but they are more for decoration. This is the workhorse!

  6. Oh you've made lots of lovely things but I'm not surprised that you haven't finished your shawl yet, with all those stitches! Fantastic hall stand. We were lucky to get one free too. It was been thrown away when the village pub was being refurbished. It's not as grand as yours but we gave it a lick of paint and have put it by the front door. Perfect for visitors coats.
Thank you so much for looking for the vintage pattern for me Jayne. I have managed to find two new ones since I wrote the yarn along post and I'm going to combine them both. It was really sweet of you to look as I know you must busy with your little ones.
I have some fingerless mitts on the needles at the moment. A nice little one evening project...hope so anyway.
    Happy Friday,

    1. I'd love to see your hall stand too. I just love to repurpose, cannot stand waste. Yesterday I found a great blog with heaps of sewing tutorials to repurpose clothing. I will be getting into that sewing soon, I hope.
You are clever - I can't wait to see how the sweater goes. Happy you found some patterns to use.
Winter is on the way here, so I am thinking of making some fingerless mitts for myself soon.
Have a lovely weekend, and I'm sure we will catch up again soon!

    1. Tasha Tudor is amazing! I have all the books about her - you should see if you can get them from the library. They aren't books for information, just gorgeous to look at. The photography of her garden is simply beautiful. She is behind my plan to have a whole daffodil paddock! She talks in one of the books about how she used to wheelbarrow in thousands of bulbs every year and now it just looks incredible in spring.

  9. I'm one of those rare people that prefers textured cloths to the picture ones (easier to hide mistakes too :). Great job on the projects!

    1. Yes, the picture ones look cute, but to do the job, you need the texture! Thanks for visiting!
