Yarn Along - Slowly!

Linking with Small Things for this week's Yarn Along.

This will be one of those Yarn Along posts where I just show knitting that is the same as last week and progressing slowly!
The Shoulders jumper is coming along. Progress to date is half the back.

We are gearing up for this year's Woolly West Fest - yay! You can read about last year's here.
This year, the parking meter cosies will be reinstated, but we will need more as we are doing the two main cross roads in town instead of just one. Also this year, we are knitting bunting for the laneways in town and a true to life size knitted fruit and veggie cart. Not the cart; that will be a wooden one with a red and white striped canopy. I can't wait to see it! And I am knitting a tea cosy for the Tea Cosy Exhibition. Oh, which one to knit?! What do you think? One of these - or any other suggestions?

These tea cosies are all from this fabulous book, Tea Cosies by Jenny Occleshaw. All the ones I have choosen represent things I love, including tea cosies!

Bees and flowers

Very hungry caterpillar

Woodland gnome

Daffodils

Chickens

My current reading is Miss Julia Speaks Her Mind by Ann B. Ross. I read about this book on a Yarn Along post a while back. I tried to find it, but couldn't. So if it was you, please let me know so I can link back to you and say thanks!

I just loved this book. And I am so happy to find it is a series! I have an obsession with book series - have to keep reading until I finish them all.
The book was just the kind of dry humour that I love. Miss Julia is a treasure.

I would love to hear which tea cosy you like best. Or some ideas for others. I was also thinking maybe a sheep one, as we are celebrating Hamilton being the 'Wool Capital of the World.' Well, this used to be our council's slogan - they have recently replaced it with 'Hamilton - One Place, Many Possibilities', I guess to show that we are more diverse and not just riding on the sheep's back.

And finally, a funny from Whirlwind. Recently, his class harvested, cooked and ate the potatoes from their class veggie patch. Whirlwind came home and wrote this little story in his story notebook.

Not sure, if you can see it clearly in the photo, but it goes like this:

Once upon a time there was two potatoes. Once the mum got cooked into a salad. The dad potatoes cried.

Oh me, oh my, children are precious!

I have finally worked out how to add Google Friend Connect to my sidebar. I would love it if you joined me!

  1. Wow, that's a lot of knitting. All the tea cossies are so cute but my choice would be the first one "bees and flowers". Good luck.

  2. I love, love the tea cosies, so pretty. I couldn't decide which Hamilton in which country you lived in until I saw The Grampians sign. We are originally from Cumbria. Back to the tea cosies, when I feel a lot more confident I would love to tackle one of those.

    1. Hamilton in Victoria, Australia. I cannot even just say Australia as there are a number of Hamiltons in different states!
I would love to make just about every tea cosy in the book - it is that lovely! But I narrowed it down to these favourites to choose from.

  3. Those tea cosies are a real delight, I loved them but if I had to pick one it would be the very hungry caterpillar.

    1. The festival is heaps of fun. Last year it received so much publicity as noone had really done anything like that before in rural Australia. I love the gnome too. When we do hay bale art in November, I want to decorate mine as a toadstool cottage (of course!) with knitted toadstools, gnomes, flowers, vines. I am so looking forward to that as well.

    1. Thanks! Daffodils are my favourite flowers and I just love yellow, so I am partial to that tea cosy. I have now put the second Miss Julia book on hold at the library - waiting impatiently for it to arrive!
